That causes massive internal stress in the wood which produces tiger-like stripes in the fork (called figuring), and it presented a wonderful opportunity for rich blue resin. Fly fishing lures are specifically placed along the waterway to show which types of fish would be caught at that real life location. This cedar was put up on the walls in the early 1900’s, meaning that the wood was milled over 100 years ago, meaning that the tree was thriving in the 1800’s. That’s old growth.
